“Ominous Sky" is a fiber art piece that encapsulates the raw and untamed beauty of nature as it confronts the impending chaos of an approaching storm. This whole cloth quilt, created on a piece of my hand dyed fabric, used a flour resist and thickened dyes to create the textures. The stitching and layering of materials add depth and interest to create a landscape that encourages viewers to pause and reflect on the fragile equilibrium between human and nature.
