South Porch, is located in the historic small town of Summerville, not far to from Charleston, South Carolina. It was an ideal location to escape the harsh New York winter and focus on my creative process. I created some studies for future projects and set goals for the year ahead. Unlike my last residency, I had to fit my essential supplies in a suitcase and check my luggage for a flight. I was lucky to share this two week experience with another fiber artist, Arlene Blackburn. Arlene and I met at a SAQA Conference in Toronto and have shares a few artistic adventures since then. Brad and Brian, who run South Porch have decided to pause programming at South Porch Artists Residency while they relocate their operations to Mexico. I wish them all the luck and will treasure my time in South Carolina.

Below: Studio space and a few studies created while at South Porch along with a photo from an inspirational field trip to Botany Bay.
